Hurricane "Monster" Michael: Compared to Hurricane Katrina in 2005. October 2018.

October 10, 2018.  Florida was in a state of emergency in 35 counties. Georgia was in a state of emergency in 92 counties. Over 300 miles of coastline were affected as of 10/10/2018. There are approximately 2000 animal rescue organizations in the state of Florida. There are approximately 724 animal rescue organizations in the state of Georgia. Several of these were on the front line of rescuing.  American Red Lion has identified and funded several of these boots-on-the ground organizations. The incredible response teams are continuing to provide rescues and are currently caring for hundreds of both companion animals and wildlife until they can be returned to their homes or natural habitats.
